Who owns Maserati?

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Maserati brand ever since I heard the song “Life’s Been Good” by Joe Walsh. While I know that Maserati was once an iconic Italian automaker, I’m not sure who it’s owned by today. Who actually owns Maserati?

Founded in Bologna, Italy in 1914, Maserati was once 100% self-owned. However, it’s changed hands several times since then—Fiat bought Maserati in 1993, and it remained within the company until 2021. Today, European auto corporation Stellantis now owns 100% of Maserati due to a merger between Fiat Chrysler France’s PSA Group.
The resulting company from the merger was then named Stellantis, which is the fifth-largest automaker in the world. The company offers brands that include Maserati, as well as:
  • Jeep
  • Chrysler
  • Dodge
  • RAM
  • Alfa Romeo
  • Opel
  • Peugeot
  • Citroen
