The Trailhawk components, including its engine and its transmission, are built at Belvidere, and it is assembled there as well. The Cherokee line has been built at the Belvidere Plant since 2017. The Trailhawk is one of the Cherokee’s most popular trim lines, with its stout V6 engine, advanced all-wheel drive system with locking rear differential, and its off-road suspension, which can niftily increase the Trailhawk’s ride height for optimal off-roading. The Trailhawk also features red tow hooks, 17-inch wheels, robust all-terrain tires, and a full-size spare tire—just in case things go south when you’re out conquering nature.
The plant itself where the Trailhawk is built has been in use since 1964, and it started out as the production hub for the carmaker’s first full-size sedan, including the Chrysler C Series, which were built from 1965 to 1978.
