When was the seat belt law passed in New Jersey?

I heard that the laws regarding seat belts in New Jersey changed pretty recently. When was the newest one passed?

Although New Jersey residents have been required by law to wear a seatbelt if riding up front, a recent change has made the roads even safer. In January 2010
New Jersey seat belt laws
updated to require all adults to wear a seat belt at all times, including in the rear of the car.
Before this change, only passengers under the age of 18 were required to wear a seatbelt while riding in the back.
New Jersey’s rule change makes plenty of sense. Wearing a seatbelt, regardless of where you sit, can:
  • Improve airbag efficacy
  • Reduce the chances of sustaining serious injuries in an auto accident
  • Prevent fatalities in a crash
Keep in mind that New Jersey provides a separate set of rules when it comes to
installing car seats
and booster seats. If you’re a parent, refer to New Jersey’s state laws for detailed information.
