How often you’ll need to charge your new
electric car
will depend on your EPA range rating, the amount of driving you do, and how fast you drive, but it is perfectly OK to charge your car when the battery is at 50%. Just like you don’t need to wait until you get to zero to recharge, you also shouldn’t charge fully to 100% every time. Limiting your charging capacity to 80% or 90% will cut into your range, but it will prolong your battery’s life overall.
Ideally, you should strive to keep your car’s battery charged between 20% to 80%.
