Having an international driving permit (IDP) when traveling abroad is a great idea—even if you don’t end up needing it. It costs $20 USD to apply for an international driving license.
If you’re applying in person, you’ll have to bring a completed copy of the IDP application, two original passport photos, and a valid driver’s license along with payment for the fee.
If you’re applying by mail, you’ll need to mail a completed IDP application, two original passport photos signed on the back, a photocopy of both sides of your driver’s license, and the $20 permit fee.
