I was just in an accident about a year ago just outside of my hometown of Oakland. My car insurance rates went up as a result, but I’ve kept a spotless record ever since. Most car accidents stay on your driving record in California for three years. However, the length of time until it falls off your record depends on the severity of the infraction.
While a minor fender bender may stay on your record for three years, a severe accident such as a DUI accident with bodily injury can stay on your record for up to 10 years and seriously impact your

. As such, you may want to request your driving record by going to the California DMV website. It costs $2 plus a 1.95% processing fee, bringing your grand total to $2.04.
