How do I reset a Honda Civic oil light?

The oil light on my old Honda Civic won’t go away even though I’ve had it serviced recently. What can I do? Is there a way to reset the light?

Drivers often have issues with their oil lights not turning off after an oil change. While most repair shops will manually reset it for you, some mechanics may forget. To manually reset your
Honda Civic’s
oil light:
  1. Put your car in accessory mode. If you aren’t sure how, turn your key once in your ignition while parked, but don’t start the car.
  2. Hold down the SEL/RESET button. When the oil light begins to flash, you can let go.
  3. Hold the button again. When the light stops blinking, the oil light will be properly reset.
