How do I cancel a driver's license?
My father died about a week ago and I’m in charge of everything regarding his estate and affairs. One of the things on my checklist is to cancel his driver’s license. How do I do it?

Sorry for your loss. The death of a loved one is never easy, but hopefully, this information will help.
To cancel a driver’s license, you can visit your local DMV or do so through the mail.
If you want to cancel the driver’s license in person:
- Bring the original death certificate or a notarized copy of the original to the DMV.
- Explain to the clerk what you want to do.
- Fill out any necessary forms.
If you want to cancel the driver’s license by mail:
- Find the necessary address of the main DMV or Secretary of State’s office online.
- Write a letter explaining what you want to do.
- Mail in a notarized copy of the death certificate and the original driver’s license, along with your letter.
You will also need to cancel your father’s
car insurance
