How can I get insurance and buy a car at the same time?

I am getting a new car this weekend and I don't want to pay for a policy until I know for sure what car I am getting. Can I get the insurance and car at the same time?

“Yes, you can wait to buy your insurance policy while you are at the dealership. Dealers are used to selling cars and helping people set up their
car insurance
. Just make sure the coverage is what you need, not what the dealer thinks would be best.
Know which insurance company you would like to go with before getting to the dealership will also save you time.

Here is what you need to get your quotes ready ahead of time:
  • Name, address, date of birth
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number and state
  • VIN or year, make, and model
  • Idea of coverage
That’s it! Once you pick your perfect car, just update the quote with the correct VIN and the name and address of the
finance company
if you have one.
Good luck car shopping!”
