Does State Farm renters insurance cover hurricane damage?
I’m moving to the east coast and got a great renters insurance quote from State Farm. I’ve never had to worry about hurricanes before, so I’m a little worried. Will a renters insurance with State Farm cover hurricane damage?

renters insurance should cover damages caused by it. Covered perils
in a renters policy typically include:- Wind
- Hail
- Lightning
- Fire
- Falling objects
- Non-flood related water damage
However, renters insurance virtually never covers flooding, which is common during a hurricane. If you want coverage for flooding, flood insurance is available for purchase through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or a private insurer.
Additionally, if you live in an area prone to hurricanes, you’ll want to make sure the renters policy you get doesn’t exclude hurricane damage. If it does, you may need to find separate coverage.
