Do car insurance companies allow you to cancel your policy mid term?

I'm halfway through my annual policy. I found a better rate for insurance and I want to switch companies. Can I cancel my current policy mid term?

“Every
car insurance
company will let you cancel your policy midterm, but some may charge a cancellation fee for doing so.
Typically, it’s a flat fee to end coverage. If you paid in full, you’ll likely get back your unused premium or a prorated amount minus the cancellation fee. If you pay monthly, it will be an additional fee owed to the company at cancellation.
You can reach out to an agent directly or review your
policy declaration page
or documents to determine exactly what you might pay in fees.
If there is no fee attached to your cancellation, make sure that your policy cancellation matches the date you start the new policy. But before you pull the trigger, make sure to sign up with jerry.ai
