Are U-turns legal in Oregon?

I’ve read that Oregon is an anomaly regarding legal and illegal U-turns—or at least compared to other states. Can I legally make a U-turn in Oregon?

You’re right about
Oregon
. U-turns are not legal in Oregon in many cases, which is in stark contrast to the 49 other states in the Union.
While U-turns aren’t outlawed altogether, you cannot make a U-turn in town or city unless:
  • You explicitly see a U-turn sign that allows it
  • You can see traffic coming from the other way up to 500 feet
  • You can see traffic coming from the other direction up to 1,000 feet (outside city limits)
While Oregon might have the most stringent U-turn laws in the U.S., it shouldn’t deter you from driving there. Just make sure you have an affordable car insurance policy by shopping around with the
