Do electric cars have generators?

I’m looking into buying my first electric car but I’m curious about the ins and outs of how exactly the electric motor is powered. Do electric cars have some kind of internal generator that powers the motor?

Electric cars
don’t operate on a generator in the way you would think, but the electric traction motor works like a giant generator within the car itself.
On an
electric car
, regenerative braking works as a generator of sorts, converting the kinetic energy of the car in motion into energy that can be used to charge the battery. In all cases, however, using the car itself to generate its own energy will slow down the vehicle, and thus this can only be applied in situations where the car is decelerating.
There has never been a more exciting time to invest in an electric car, and naturally, you’ll need a
car insurance
plan that delivers great coverage at a great price.
