A BMW 5-Series has how many cylinders?

I run my own organic pet food business, and it’s been a banner year. Who knew people wanted to feed their dogs and cats actual, real food? Anyway, things have been so good that I’m treating myself to a new ride. I’m looking at the new 5-Series—Bowser is happiest riding the roads in a powerful midsize luxury sedan with nimble handling. How many cylinders does a BMW 5-Series have?

Depending on the trim level, a new 2023
BMW 5-Series
engine will have either four, six, or eight cylinders.
In general, a vehicle carrying an engine with more cylinders will be more powerful, as is the case with the new 5-Series lineup. That said, the more cylinders your BMW has, the quicker it will go through your fuel, and the more often you’ll have to fill up.
That said, here’s how many cylinders you’ll get in a 2023 5-Series, depending on the trim:
  • 530i: 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 248 horsepower, 257 pound-feet of torque, and rear-wheel drive
  • 530i xDrive
    : 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 248 horsepower, 257 pound-feet of torque, and all-wheel drive
  • 530e
Hybrid: 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 248 horsepower, 257 pound-feet of torque, plus an electric motor, and rear-wheel drive
  • 530e xDrive
: 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 248 horsepower, 257 pound-feet of torque, plus an electric motor, and all-wheel drive
  • 540i
    : 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 335 horsepower, 331 pound-feet of torque, and rear-wheel drive
  • 540i xDrive
    : 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with 335 horsepower, 331 pound-feet of torque, and all-wheel drive
  • M550ix
    : 4.4-liter V8 engine with 523 horsepower, 553 pound-feet of torque, and all-wheel drive
