Buicks have a wide range of lug patterns, from 5x4.13 to 6x5.2, so knowing your model’s exact lug pattern is important if you need to change out your rims.
Buick is well-known for making quality luxury vehicles at accessible prices. But while you might enjoy having a luxurious commute to work, the downside is that your luxury rims are bound to get scratched eventually. So before you accidentally scrape the curb at your favorite morning coffee stop, make sure you know your Buick’s lug pattern.

A vehicle’s lug pattern tells you how many lug holes are in the wheels as well as how far apart they are. The lug pattern will have two numbers: the first one tells you how many lug holes there are, and the second is the diameter of the circle those holes make.
So for example, a 5x5 lug pattern means your wheel has five lug holes that form a five-inch diameter circle.
If you want new rims or wheels for your Buick, you’ll need to get replacements with the same lug pattern as your old ones.

If you’re not quite sure what all these wheel terms mean, don’t worry! Lug patterns are really simple once you know the vocabulary.
OEM wheel size: OEM stands for “Original Equipment Manufacturer,” so the OEM wheel size is the diameter of your Buick’s original wheels.
Lug pattern: The lug pattern (or bolt pattern) is the two numbers that tell you how many lug holes your wheel has and the diameter of the circle they form.
Offset: The offset indicates the distance between the wheel’s mounting surface and the middle of the rim. A positive offset means the wheels are pulled in toward the car, while a negative offset means the wheels stick out. Most Buicks have a high (H) offset, meaning the wheels are pulled in toward the vehicle.
Stud size: Stud sizes are listed in either inches or millimeters depending on the manufacturer. US fasteners are shown as stud diameter x threads per inch, while metric fasteners would be stud diameter x distance between threads.
Center bore: The wheel’s center bore is a hole that centers the wheel on the hub. These can vary in size, so it’s important to know the right measurement for your specific vehicle.
How to measure your Buick’s lug pattern
If you ever need to know your vehicle’s lug pattern, you can easily measure it yourself without having to scramble around for your owner’s manual. All you need is a ruler or measuring tape.
The first thing you’ll want to do is count the number of lugs in your wheel. Most Buicks have five or six. This will be the first number in your lug pattern.
Next, use your measuring tape or ruler to measure the diameter of the lug pattern. Start on the outer edge of any lug hole and measure directly across the circle. If you have a five-bolt pattern, you’ll end up between lugs. Just scoot your measuring tape or ruler over to the closest lug and measure to the center of the lug hole. The measurement you get will be the second number in your lug pattern.
So for example, if you have six lug holes and you measured a diameter of 5.2 inches, your lug pattern is 6x5.2.
