The 2020 Acura RDX Technology Package adds a ton of high-tech and high-end features to a luxury crossover that already sets the bar high for value.
In the world of luxury SUVs, it’s hard to capture the perfect blend of style, performance, and value—but the Acura RDX hit the mark. Starting at just $38,595, the 2020 RDX costs less than some mass-market SUVs, but it offers an astonishingly well-rounded luxury driving experience.
Distinctive yet classy styling and a bevy of tech features make the RDX stand out from the class. But picking the right options package can max out your RDX’s value. Is the Technology Package worth it, or are you better off going with one of the pricier packages? Jerry

. What’s included in the 2020 Acura RDX Technology Package?
The 2020 Acura RDX is available as a single base trim with three option packages: Technology, A-Spec, and Advance.
The Technology Package, as its name suggests, focuses on amping up your RDX’s tech features—but it also adds some great luxury touches, like perforated Milano leather upholstery, white ambient cabin lighting, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Alongside those high-class upgrades, the Tech Package includes:
Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
12-speaker ELS Studio® Premium sound system
AcuraLink real-time traffic system
Front and rear parking sensors
GPS-linked dual-zone automatic climate control
The base RDX is already well-appointed, but the Technology Package takes things up a notch into true luxury territory.
Pricing information
The base 2020 RDX starts at $38,595, and the Technology Package adds an extra $3,200 to that price tag. That means the total price of a 2020 Acura RDX with the Technology Package is just $41,795.
For comparison, that’s not much more than a top-of-the-line RAV4 or Nissan Rogue. It’s in line with the pricing of the 2020 Lexus NX300h, and leaps and bounds more affordable than luxury brands like BMW or Mercedes-Benz (the 2020 BMW X3, for instance, starts at $42,945 and blasts past the $55,000 mark in top trims).

What other packages are available for the 2020 Acura RDX?
The other two packages offered for the 2020 RDX are the A-Spec
and Advance
packages. The RDX A-Spec brings a pretty superficial set of upgrades: in addition to the features included in the Technology, there’s a bigger and better version of the ELS sound system, plus some sized-up wheels and cool exterior trim work. But in terms of performance, it doesn't have much to offer that the Technology Package doesn’t cover—and the $44,000 starting MSRP is a lot less appealing.
Then, if you want to go all out, there’s the RDX Advance, which starts at $48,695 and includes a ton of high-end features, including:
Heated and ventilated seats
Customizable heads-up display
Hands-free power liftgate
Adaptive suspension dampers
Acoustic front door glass
Natural olive ash burl wood trim
It’s the final word in luxury for the RDX—but that extra $4,000 won’t really translate to meaningful performance upgrades, so only spring for the Advance if you’re looking to lock in the definitive luxury RDX experience.

Is the Technology Package worth it?
We say yes. While the base RDX is surprisingly well-appointed and you certainly won’t be floundering without the extra features, the Technology Package is thoughtfully built and delivers great value for the money.
Sure, some of the add-ons are the definition of nonessential (who really needs their steering wheel wrapped in leather?), but practical tech like navigation and climate control holds center stage and has the potential to improve your driving experience.
