Will GEICO drop me after an accident?

I just got into my first car accident, ever. No one got hurt, but I heard some insurance providers drop you after car accidents, and now I’m stressed out about what’s going to happen to my coverage. Will GEICO drop me after an accident?

Don’t worry! It’s almost unheard of for GEICO (or any car insurance company) to drop you after a single accident. GEICO does have a three-year, 36-month non-renewal policy, but it only applies to at-fault accidents.
This means that in order to lose your
car insurance
, not only would you have to get into three separate accidents within 36 months, all three of those accidents would have to be your fault.
It sounds like you’re usually a safe driver, so you probably have nothing to worry about—but in the event that you did lose your regular GEICO coverage, you’re not out of options. You can still purchase auto insurance from a provider who specializes in covering
high-risk drivers
.
