How to cancel your Farmers car insurance policy

If you want to cancel your Farmers auto insurance policy, you have three options:
  • You can cancel over the phone—simply call Farmers at 1 (888) 327-6335
  • You can cancel in person by visiting a Farmers office and speaking to a local insurance agent
  • You can mail a cancellation letter to:
Farmers Customer Service
6301 Owensmouth Avenue
Woodland Hills, CA 91367
Be prepared with your contact information and policy number so that the customer service agent can quickly identify you and assist you with your cancellation request. You can easily find your customer ID or policy number on any policy documents, such as your most recent bill.
Before you cancel your Farmers insurance, make sure you have a new policy lined up with a different insurance provider to avoid
a lapse in coverage
. Even a brief coverage lapse will go on your record and could increase your premiums down the road.
When processing your cancellation, you’ll be able to choose a specific cancellation date so that it lines up with the start date of your new policy.
If you’re changing insurance for a financed vehicle, don’t forget to inform your lender that you’ve canceled your Farmers insurance policy

Can you cancel a Farmers policy without calling?

Yes! If you’re one of those people who would rather handle everything in person (we get it), simply pop by your local Farmers office and speak to a local Farmers agent in person.
Or, if you hate long conversations with customer service agents, just mail your cancellation request to the following mailing address:
Farmers Customer Service
6301 Owensmouth Avenue
Woodland Hills, CA 91367.
You will not be able to cancel your insurance policy via
Signal, the mobile app
, or Farmers.com.

Does Farmers charge a cancellation fee?

Generally, no, Farmers insurance does not charge insurance cancellation fees. However, some customers have reported having to pay a $50 fee, so check with your agent before canceling. If a fee is assessed, they’ll use the credit card on file.

Does Farmers refund you if you cancel your auto insurance policy?

If you’ve paid your insurance premium in full for the policy period, you will receive a prorated refund to the credit card on file for the remaining period after cancellation. If you’ve set up monthly automatic payments, a refund will likely not be necessary.

Does Farmers have a grace period for nonpayment?

Yes, Farmers has a grace period of 30 days for payments. During the grace period, policyholders can pay their past-due premium in order to avoid a lapse in coverage. If the grace period ends without the necessary payment being made, Farmers will cancel the policy.

Should you cancel your Farmers insurance?

It depends on your circumstances. Common reasons for canceling Farmers car insurance include:
  • You aren’t able to afford insurance coverage
  • You want a different type of policy
  • You’ve
    moved
    ,
    sold your vehicle
, or changed your marital status
  • You purchased a homeowners or renters policy with a different company
  • You found better car insurance rates with a different auto insurance company
All of these are great reasons to shop for new auto insurance quotes, but it might not mean you have to cancel your car insurance coverage with Farmers.
The best way to know for sure if canceling your Farmers insurance is the right move is to compare auto insurance rates from several different car insurance companies (such as State Farm, Geico, and USAA) to see if you can secure cheap car insurance elsewhere.
