Why is my Toyota Tacoma 4.0 making a ticking noise?
I just picked up a used Toyota Tacoma with the 4.0L engine. It seems to run alright, but there’s a ticking noise when I drive. Is this normal?

4.0 engine may be making a ticking noise. However, the 4.0 is notably louder than other engines—if the ticking is consistent, it could just be the engine doing its thing!Here are the most common causes for a ticking sound from your Tacoma’s engine:
To be safe, check your dashboard for any indicator lights. You can also try changing the oil to see if that helps reduce the clicking. Since you just bought your Tacoma, you can also call your dealer to see if the engine ticking is a normal part of the engine performance or if you should bring it in for a check-up.
