Since most consider a Tesla
an investment, it’s important to keep it clean! As it’s currently muddy, the best way to wash your Tesla is to take it to a car wash or wash it by hand. That said, before entering a car wash, always put your Tesla into Car Wash Mode. When in Car Wash Mode, your Tesla automatically locks your doors and windows, disables your windshield wipers and Sentry Mode, and more. This will prevent damage to your charging port and other parts of your vehicle.
To enable Car Wash Mode, go to Controls > Service > Car Wash Mode. If you’re going through an automatic touchless car wash, you’ll also want to Enable Free Roll. Free Roll keeps your Tesla in neutral for the duration of the wash.
If you choose to wash your car by hand, use a high-quality microfiber cloth and a mild car wash soap. Also, remove as much mud as possible with a hose first, before going in by hand.
Beyond the type of wash, you’ll also need to consider the ingredients a car wash uses. Anything with a pH of 13 or higher can damage your car. Avoid any corrosive chemicals, detergents, and hot water, too.
Once you have your Tesla cleaned up, continue to keep it safe with the best car insurance coverage. The Jerry
