Why does my cruise control not work sometimes?
I bought a new car, and I was so excited because I have a long highway commute and my old car didn’t have cruise control. This one does, but it doesn’t always work. Why is that?

Cruise control is a great option to keep your speed where you need it to be, especially on long drives. Unfortunately, there are a few pretty common reasons why your cruise control would not work sometimes:
- *Bad fuse: Like any other electronically controlled system in your car, your cruise control is at the mercy of fuses that cause things to stop working when they go bad.
- *Failing brake pedal switch: Because cruise control systems are designed to disengage when the brake pedal is pressed, if the brake pedal switch is failing, your car may think the brakes are engaged, so your cruise control can’t turn on.
- *Failing speed sensor: If your car can’t sense how fast you’re going, it can’t sense how to set your speed.
