A 1989 GMC Sierra’s fuel pump relay is located in the power distribution box under the hood.
The fuel pump relay functions as the primary electronic switch that controls power to the fuel pump. Any issues with the relay will directly affect your fuel pump, which can result in drivability issues for the vehicle.
Typical signs of a fuel pump relay malfunction include:
- Your engine suddenly stalls. A faulty relay may allow the engine to be restarted a few moments later, while a completely failed relay will not.
