What should I do about stolen keys?
My car keys were recently stolen. Should I go to a locksmith? Where can I get new keys?

Oh, no! I’m sorry to hear that your keys were stolen! I hope you and your car are okay otherwise.
Depending on the type of key you have and the age of your vehicle, you may be able to have a locksmith replace your key.
If you have a traditional car key, locksmiths can replicate it. In most cases, you can even call a mobile locksmith to come directly to you. If they can’t replicate your key, you’ll likely need to go to a repair shop or a dealership to get a new key made.
If you have a newer vehicle with a high-tech key, you’ll also need to visit a dealership. These keys include:
- Transponder keys
- Key fobs with a switchblade key
- Smart keys or keyless ignition
If you do have one of these types of keys, don’t fret! You can have your car towed to a dealership; they’ll replace your key for you! You could also try purchasing a replacement key online.
Whether you need a tow or locksmith, check to see if your
