What is the Volkswagen Jetta TDI warranty?

I just bought a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta TDI. The previous owner told me that the warranty was transferable, so I shouldn’t worry about buying an extended warranty. What can you tell me about the Volkswagen Jetta TDI warranty?

While a transferable warranty sounds good in theory, the
Volkswagen Jetta TDI
warranty includes a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. As such, your 2015 Jetta TDI is no longer under warranty.
To compound matters, the 2015 edition of the Jetta TDI was the last model made for American markets and the Jetta TDI was discontinued after the 2015 model year. Following the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal, all other diesel Volkswagen models were also discontinued. As a result, there are no comparable models currently available unless you decided to buy a gas-powered Jetta.
If you ever decide to upgrade, the current Volkswagen warranty is a 4-year, 50,000-mile basic warranty (bumper-to-bumper) and a 4-year, 50,000-mile powertrain warranty.
While your Jetta TDI is out of warranty, you can always save money to buy
mechanical breakdown insurance
or an extended warranty. A good place to start is by reviewing your car insurance coverage with the
