What is the legal alcohol limit for driving in Arizona?

I would never drive while drunk, but sometimes I’ll have a drink with colleagues after work and drive home after. I’m worried that if I were pulled over for another reason, I could get a DUI even though I feel safe driving. What is the legal alcohol limit for driving in Arizona?

It’s great that you’re concerned about safety on the road—and usually, you don’t need to worry about getting a
DUI
after one drink! The legal alcohol limit in Arizona is 0.08%.
The main thing to keep in mind is that everyone’s body process alcohol different and some people can have impaired driving after one drink.
The Copper State has a no-tolerance policy for driving under the influence, and it splits DUIs—and penalties—into three categories.
  • A standard DUI conviction can be charged if your blood alcohol level is above 0.08%.
  • An extreme DUI conviction can be charged if your blood alcohol level is above 0.15%.
  • A Super Extreme DUI conviction can be charged if your blood alcohol level is above 0.20%.
To avoid a DUI charge, simply stay conscious of how much you’ve had to drink and always err on the side of caution. Even if you’ve only had one or two drinks, you still shouldn’t get behind the wheel if you feel at all tipsy.
