The fine for a first offense of driving without insurance in Illinois is between $500 and $1,000, and you’ll be required to submit an SR-22 for a minimum of three years. Subsequent offenses mean heftier fines and a license suspension. If you have your license suspended, you’ll also be required to pay a $100 reinstatement fee when the suspension is lifted.
