My Chrysler Pacifica’s limited warranty is set to expire soon, and I’m considering buying an extended warranty for the extra protection. Is that a good idea?

Whether you should buy a Chrysler extended warranty depends on your budget, priorities, and peace of mind. Chrysler offers two official extended warranties through Mopar, the auto parts division of Chrysler’s parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles:
Mopar Maximum Care (8 years/125,000 miles): Over 5,000 critical components, car rental/towing coverage, roadside assistance, key fob repair/replacement, and trip interruption protection
Mopar Added Care Plus (5 years/60,000 miles to 8 years/150,000 miles): Over 800 components, car rental/towing coverage, roadside assistance, and trip interruption protection
Mopar Powertrain Care Plus (varies/customizable”: More than 300 components of powertrain, car rental/towing coverage, roadside assistance, and trip interruption protection
These plans have different options for deductibles and year/mileage ranges, so the final cost will depend on the specific terms you choose. In general, though, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1,800 to $4,000 for your Mopar protection plan.
By and large, Chryslers visit the repair shop less than the average vehicle, but the severity of repairs hits right at average—which means an extended warranty could be a worthy purchase for your Chrysler.
