My liability-only car was totaled in an accident, now what?
What should I do if liability won't cover all the damage to my car? My 2010 Kia Sportage was deemed a total loss by Progressive. I didn't carry collision coverage so I know I won't get a payout, but I don't think the damage to the car is that bad.

“If you don’t think your car is totaled, you do have another option!
When a car is deemed a total loss, the insurance carrier believes it will cost more to fix the car than it is worth.
But the car may have more worth to you than what can be seen in dollars and cents.
Since you don’t have
collision coverage
and probably still maintain possession of the car, I suggest towing it to a trustworthy body shop and have them provide a quote to repair the damage. You may even be able to have someone come to your house to give an estimate.
If the estimate you receive seems reasonable and attainable to you, you can pay for the repairs yourself and keep the car.”
