Is stopping on the crosswalk at a red light a violation?

I feel like I’m always a bit late when I brake and stop a bit after the white line or in the crosswalk. While I try to avoid it, my friend told me that it’s legal. Will stopping at a crosswalk result in a ticket?

Stopping on the crosswalk at a red light is a violation, but most police officers don’t enforce it unless you’re impeding traffic. Technically, you’re blocking an intersection, so a cop could give you a ticket for it. If your city has red light cameras, you can also get a ticket.
In the future, start the braking process a bit earlier and
limit distractions
so you’re always attentive behind the wheel.
If you’re a bit rough on braking, you may want to consider a driving course. Not only will it teach you how to stop properly, but you may also be eligible for
