That’s true! The PSA Group announced its merger with Chrysler in 2019. The merger became official by mid-January of 2021, bringing the worlds of the Netherlands-based PSA Group and Fiat Chrysler together to become Stellantis.
That puts a lengthy list of car brands under the ownership of Stellantis, including:
Chrysler had its share of financial difficulties in the recent past, including its bankruptcy amid the aftermath of the 2007-2008 financial crisis. After its government bailout, Fiat purchased Chrysler shares from the U.S. Treasury as well as additional shares, and the two merged to become Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). After this more recent merger, they both fall under the umbrella now known as Stellantis.
