In an at-fault state like Ohio, a victim of a car accident can file for damages against the person who caused the accident. In Ohio you’ll be financially responsible for your portion of the other driver’s damages if you are deemed
less than 50% negligent for the accident
. If you don’t have insurance, the not at fault driver can file a lawsuit against you to recover these damages. In no-fault states, people must file with their own policies first and there is a high injury threshold before you can file against the other person for damages.
