This coverage is designed to protect homeowners from title theft, which can result in a hacker selling your property, defaulting on the mortgage, running up any utility bills, or stealing rent payments from tenants if you rent out your property. This is not a true insurance policy—it is more of a monitoring service to watch over your identity and you’re notified of any suspicious activity. It is not technically necessary or required to have this service.
