Is car insurance cheaper if you have an American driver's license?
I currently live in Florida and I am shopping around for car insurance. The rates seem really high! Right now, I have a license for the People's Republic of China. Will I have better luck once I get my Florida license?

“Having a verifiable driving record can help keep the cost of your insurance down. If you have an international license or a license from another country, there is usually no way to verify your good driving history.
GEICO will include your prior driving experience if you can provide them with an original copy of your driving record, along with a copy that is transcribed into English and notarized. Progressive and Farmers also offer policies to customers with international licenses.
Once you get an American license, keep in mind that your insurance premium will not decrease right away. It takes about three years of accumulated driving history for most carriers to start providing discounts for driving experience.”
