What is the warranty on a new Tesla?
I bought a Tesla a year ago and I’m having some issues with it. I have no idea if my warranty has expired or what it covers and I really don’t want to pay to repair any parts. For a new Tesla, what is the warranty?

Sorry to hear you’re having issues with your Tesla! There are several different warranties for new Teslas and it does vary per model.
Here is a breakdown of some of the warranties offered by Tesla:
- The Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty covers *four years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes * *first**.
- The Supplemental Restraint System Limited Warranty is good for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.
- The Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty varies based on the model. For instance, if you own aModel S, this warranty is good for eight years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first.
If you purchase a used Tesla, there’s the Used Vehicle Limited Warranty. This adds an extra year or 10,000 miles to the Basic Vehicle Limited Warranty post-expiration.
Some things that can void a Tesla warranty include:
- Failing to make repairs
- Exceeding load limits
