Is a broken fence covered by home insurance?

A section of my fence in the backyard broke apart during a heavy storm this past week and I am hoping to get it fixed soon. Will this be covered by my home insurance?

Sorry to hear about the broken fence. The good news is, a fence is likely to be covered by home insurance as long as the damage is caused by a named peril.
A fence is covered under the other structure coverage of a
homeowners insurance policy
. This coverage type has a lower limit, with a total reimbursement of 10% of your total home coverage. This should be plenty for a fence, however.
As long as the fence is damaged by a
covered peril
, you’ll be covered for repairs. This includes falling trees, fires, storms, and more. Damage from wear and tear or neglect is not usually covered.
