In case you’re having trouble choosing, Edmunds recommends the SE, which gets you a power liftgate and an expanded driver-assistance system through Mitsubishi MI-Pilot.Trims are all well and good, but how are the ratings? Slightly more enticing than the Eclipse Cross, but hardly category-topping. It earns its highest rating from Car and Driver with a respectable 8.0/10. Neither J.D. Power nor Edmunds finds it quite that appealing, with a 77/100 and a 7.9/10 respectively. However, it manages to place ninth on J.D. Power’s Best Compact SUV of 2022 list (two below the Eclipse Cross).
Here’s where the Outlander shines and where it could use some polishing.

Unfortunately, the Outlander Sport stumbles in the ratings compared to the regular Outlander. It has a less-than-stellar 4.0/10 on Car and Driver, and it doesn’t even make the list for J.D. Power’s Best Compact SUVs of 2022 ranking. Edmunds shows it a small measure of mercy with a still-not-great 6.1/10.

What is Mitsubishi’s smallest SUV?
Well, Mitsubishi’s smallest SUV depends on how you want to define it. Going by wheelbase alone, it’s a tie between the Eclipse Cross and the Outlander Sport, both of which have a wheelbase of 105.1 inches. However, the Outlander Sport is shorter in both length and height (171.9 inches and 64.8 inches, respectively) compared to the Eclipse Cross (179 inches and 66.5 inches).
Their smallest vehicle on the market is none other than the Mitsibushi Mirage with a wheelbase of just 96.5 inches.
What is Mitsubishi’s cheapest SUV?
Perhaps unsurprisingly given its ratings, the cheapest SUV is the Outlander Sport. With an MSRP of just under $22,000, it’s one of the more affordable options.
