How soon do you have to insure a new car?

I purchased a new car last week. I haven't added it to my insurance policy yet. How long do I have to insure it?

While you should insure your new car before you pick it up, your current insurance policy should extend coverage.
Most
car insurance
companies and states have grace periods for adding your new car to your insurance. Although the grace period varies, they are typically between 14 to 30 days.
If you purchase a new car and are insured, your insurance will extend to your new car. If you don’t add your new vehicle to your policy after the grace period, it will no longer have coverage.
To avoid any issues with your insurance, add your new car to your insurance now.
Transferring insurance to your new car
is easy and should only take a few minutes. Most car insurance companies allow you to add vehicles online or through their mobile app instead of having to call.
