How many spark plugs are in a V4 engine?

The spark plugs on my engine are corroded beyond repair, so now I’m looking at replacements. I’ve never had to replace spark plugs, and I’m not very familiar with car parts. How many spark plugs are in a V4 engine?

In most cases, a V4 engine will have four spark plugs—one attached to each cylinder head.
However, if your V4 engine is of the twin spark variety, you may instead need eight spark plugs—two for each cylinder head. That’s because twin-spark engines employ opposing spark plugs that fire simultaneously in the cylinder head in order to ignite the engine charge.
If you’re unsure what kind of engine your vehicle has, you can always check your owner’s manual for specs specific to your model. It’s also a good idea to check your vehicle’s manual for information regarding its
basic maintenance routine
, which includes tips to help you take care of your engine’s spark plugs and when to replace them.
Generally speaking, your spark plugs may need replacing every two to three years, or 20,000 to 30,000 miles—so it’s a good idea to know what’s under your car’s hood ahead of time.
