How many electric cars are in Hawaii?

I'm the current owner of a sedan, but I've been going back and forth about what I should get when my lease expires this year. I've seen a lot more electric cars on the roads here in Oahu, and I want to know if more Hawaiians are ditching their gas vehicles. How many electric cars are in Hawaii?

It sounds like you’re headed in the right direction. According to Hawaii’s Electric Director of electrification of transportation, there are about 14,000 electric cars currently in Hawaii.
That’s only about 1.4% of
Hawaii’s
1.04 million registered passenger vehicles. However, that number seems promising. The state is still in the early adopter phase, so you can’t expect to see the same number of sales as more populated states.
Hawaii does face a challenge when it comes to adopting electric cars. They have to figure out the problem of charging infrastructure. The good news is that it’s still early, but with more people switching to electric, the state will have no choice but to find adequate solutions for its residents.
Along with charging stations, and other changes that come with being an EV owner, you will need to secure the right car insurance policy for your new electric car.
