After moving to Maine, I was surprised by how rural it actually is. Outside of Portland, I see very few people and even fewer cars. How many cars are there in Maine?

. That may shed some light on how rural the state actually is! However, Mainers still own plenty of vehicles. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that there are 1.1 million cars in Maine. This is a 1.5% increase in the number of vehicle registrations since 2015, which is about on par with the population growth of the state.
