How many 1973 Dodge Chargers were made?

My siblings and I want to surprise our dad with a classic car for his birthday this year. He was always a fan of Challengers and Chargers, but we’re not sure what would be easier to find—or where to start. How many 1973 Chargers did Dodge make?

Nine years after its debut, the
Dodge Charger
remained a popular seller with over 119,300 models made in 1973. That production rate trumped the previous year of 1972 by over 25,000 vehicles!
Compared to Chargers produced in the previous year, the ‘73 Charger promised more space and bigger quarter windows, along with minor updates to its classic grille and headlamps. For the 1973 model year, the Dodge Charger was produced in a number of different body styles, including the classic coupe body style, a hardtop coupe style, or a specialized
SE trim package
(which was by far the most popular). The ‘73 Charger contained a Slant Six base engine, although an optional Magnum V8 chassis boosted its horsepower from a meager 105 hp to 280 hp.
Originally priced between $2,800 and $3,400, the 1973 Dodge Charger is sold at auction today for an average of $16,000.
