How does auto insurance work if you hit an expensive car?
I'm new to car insurance. I get the basic idea of what liability covers, but what if I hit a really expensive car like a Mercedes? Will my insurance cover me?

“If you hit a Mercedes and damage it, your
liability insurance
will spring into action. The limits on your policy determine what your insurance will pay out for damages. You can opt for the state-minimum coverage, but higher limits ($100,000 or more) are recommended. The greater your limits, the more likely your insurance will fully cover you if you hit an expensive vehicle like a Mercedes.
If your limits fall below the cost of damages and injuries after an accident, you’ll have to pay the remaining balance out of pocket.”
