I was watching a TikTok yesterday and saw someone with super cool smoked headlights. If possible, I’d love to do that to my car! What’s the best way for me to smoke my car’s headlights?
can be cool—just make sure they’re legal in your state! Since every state has its own policies, it may be illegal in your area. But once you’ve ensured it’s not, you can start by gathering these materials:
Dish soap
2000 grit sandpaper
A lint-free cloth
Rubbing alcohol
Disposable mask
Headlight tint spray
Masking tape
Clear coat spray
Once you have all those materials, follow these steps to smoke your headlights:
Take apart the headlight assembly.
Dampen the towel with soapy water and lightly wet the headlights.
Sand the area with your 2000 grit sandpaper.
Clean the area with a new cloth and rubbing alcohol.
Now that it’s clean, you’re ready to spray.
Cover the areas surrounding your headlights with masking tape to avoid overspray.
Put on your disposable mask
Spray one thin layer over the whole headlight at a time, leaving it 15 minutes to dry between each layer.
When you’ve reached a smokiness you like, let it dry for 12 hours.
Remove the tape
Reinstall the headlight assembly.
Test your lights!
Remember, your insurance rate might increase when you modify your car. Call your provider before smoking your headlights to make sure it won’t affect your premium.
