My Honda Element has been having some trouble when idling lately. I think I need to reset the idle air control valve. How do you do that in a Honda?

Resetting the idle air control valve in a

is fairly easy. Here are the steps you’ll need to follow to reset the idle air control (IAC) valve in your Honda:

First, push the accelerator pedal in slightly.

Once you’ve done that, start your engine and let it run for five seconds.

Turn the ignition off for ten more seconds.

Once 10 seconds have passed, restart the engine.

Once you do this, your car should be idling properly. If something still seems off, speak with a mechanic, as this could indicate a larger problem with your engine or ventilation systems.
