Teslas operate much like your phone or computer, so there are a couple of options you can try. The first is a soft reboot, and the second is a hard reboot.
Use a soft reboot in an instance where the touchscreen is acting up, you’re having Bluetooth issues, or something smaller like that. Here are the steps:
Hold down the scrolling buttons on your steering wheel
After a few seconds, your touchscreen should shut off
Wait 30 to 40 seconds then the Tesla emblem will appear on the touchscreen, and your home screen will appear automatically
If you need to hard reboot your car, this will power down both the touchscreen and the car’s central processing unit and power them up again. Here are the steps:
Hold down the scrolling buttons on your steering wheel and depress the brake pedal at the same time
After the touch screen shuts off, continue to hold down the scrolling buttons and the brake until the Tesla emblem re-appears
Your car will be ready to drive after all systems are turned back on
