How do you replace a Honda Civic door lock actuator?
Is there a way to replace the door lock actuator on my Honda Civic? I’ve been having a lot of trouble getting my doors to lock lately, so I’m pretty sure that’s the problem. Would this be something I could do at home, or do I need to take my car in?

Replacing a door lock actuator can be complicated, but it is something that you can do at home. Here are the steps you’ll need to follow if you decide to replace the actuator in your
Honda Civic
:- First, you’ll need to remove the inside door panel. Open your door and remove the screw that is behind the door pull. There may be a small cover over the screw.
- Next, remove the screw by the door handle and pull the handle outwards.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or a dash removal tool to pop out the window switch, then unplug any electrical wires.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the plastic panel outwards, then upwards. It should come off fairly easily.
- If there is a weather guard under the door panel, carefully remove that as well.
- Use a large Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the door latch in place.
- Use a 10mm socket to remove the hex head bolt at the bottom of the window sliding support.
- Use the large screwdriver to remove the door lock knob.
- Remove the linkage rod at the latch end.
- Now, you’ll need to remove the door handle. Use a socket to remove the two 10mm hex bolts that hold it in place, then unscrew it from the threaded rod so you can slide it out of the door.
- Slide the actuator and latch down the base of the door and carefully pull it out. You may have to disconnect the electrical cord to do this.
- Unscrew the screws holding it in place, then remove the old actuator from the door latch.
- Screw in your new actuator.
- Reassemble your door by following these steps in reverse order.
