How do I find out who my car is insured with? This may sound weird, but I forgot who my insurance company is.

Not knowing who your provider is might be good news. It likely means you’ve never had to file a claim—congrats!
But rest assured, there are plenty of ways to find out who your car is insured with.
You can try:
- Reviewing your past statements: More often than not, you will receive electronic or paper statements from your provider. If you pay monthly, then it should be an easy search through your email, USPS mail, or filing cabinet. But if you pay annually or bi-annually, you may have to dig a little deeper in your inbox or mail pile.
- Looking in your car: Plenty of drivers leave copies of their insurance cards in their cars as proof of coverage. The best places to look are the visor, center console, and glove box. In fact, most states require you to carryproof of insurancewhile driving. So if it wasn’t in your car before, make sure it is now.
- Calling common providers: Try contacting a few popular companies and asking whether they have a policy for you listed. Most drivers opt for the big-brand names, so you may have, too!
