How do you earn safe driving points in Virginia?

I got a few points on my license for a traffic violation a few weeks ago and I’d like to get them removed before my insurance rates go up. What’s the best way to earn safe driving points in Virginia?

Virginia
, you can earn safe driving points by taking a driver improvement course or keeping a clean driving record for a year. The points you earn for keeping your record clean for the year are awarded every April.
You can earn up to five points for enrolling in a driver’s improvement clinic. However, the DMV will need to approve your request to earn points for a driver improvement course. Driver improvement courses can be completed through the DMV or a DMV-approved commercial organization.
