Where is the Honda Clarity made?
My uncle has a Honda Clarity hydrogen-powered car and it’s so different from any other car I’ve ever ridden in. I want to buy it from him one day, but for now, I’m just trying to learn more about it. Where are these cars made?

The Honda Clarity really is different from most other cars, both in terms of its powertrain options and its design. Unfortunately, the Clarity isn’t made anywhere anymore—the model was discontinued and production ceased in 2021 to make way for new directions in Honda’s alternative-energy car lineup.
During its run, the Clarity was assembled at two locations in Japan:
- 2008 to 2014 hydrogen fuel-cell models were made at the Takanezawa plant
- 2015 to 2021 fuel-cell, EV, and PHEV models were assembled at the Sayama plant, which is now closed
Although the Clarity’s tenure was cut short, Honda is still pursuing avenues in fuel-cell and electric-powered vehicles.
