Electric vehicles are a great way to lower gas emissions! Luckily, they are easy to charge, too.
To charge a Honda Clarity, follow these steps.
Step 1: Unlock your vehicle using your key fob but don’t start the car. To the left of the steering wheel is a button to release the charge port door. The symbol for this button is a charging cable icon.
Alternatively, you may press this same icon located on your key fob to release the charging port door instead.
Step 2: Locate the charge port door on the driver’s side rear of the vehicle. For gas-powered vehicles, this would be where the fuel tank door is. Open the charge port door.
Step 3: Go to the trunk and grab the charging cable. It should be stored in a bag. Remember when using the charging cable that the cable cannot be coiled.
Step 4: Insert the wall plug into a 120-volt wall outlet. The indicator on the control box should now say Ready.
Step 5: Remove the cover on the charge connector for the vehicle, and insert it into the vehicle’s charging port. You should hear a click sound indicating the charge connector was inserted correctly.
The charge indicator inside the charging port will change from blinking to a steady light when the vehicle is charging.
Step 6: When charging is complete, press the release button on the charger handle. Remove the charge connector from the charging port. Close the charging port and unplug the wall plug. Remember to put the charging cable back in the bag and store it in the trunk
. The charging cable supplied with the vehicle is called a Level 1 charger. It is 120 volts, approved for home use, and will take around 12 hours for a full charge. A Level 2 charger uses 240 volts and will take around two and a half hours for a full charge. You can use the Level 2 charging option at public charging stations or purchase this charging model and install it at home.
